Is there any artist working on a real anime figure?

Now, before I get inundated with links to Aiko3/4/5, Hiro 3/4/5, and Hitomi, I'm talking about things more like futepen's Sera. Aiko/Hiro3 got close, but they are old and I've been spoiled by Genesis and G2F/M. I know there are also some custom morphs out there, including one that I made. These are all OK, but I'm hoping that there is a talented artist out there making a less generic fit. The main issues with the DAZ figures is that they don't really push the mesh too far because it'll mess up supported products.
Ideally there would be a "Futepen's Sera for G2F" kind of thing lol. I'd do it myself but my sculpting skills are astoundingly sub-par.

That is not true.
Genesis products can be pushed into very extreme shapes and still have supporting products work.
As for a "Real" anime figure.....I would bet if you asked 100 people you would find 100 different ideas as to what "real" anime is.
So those who have made anime figures have done it to whatever style they were looking for.
You might be able to combine morphs and such to come up with close to the look you are looking for. That is one of the good things about the genesis figures.
How exactly is "real anime" defined?
What makes A3 or H3 or Hitonmi less of an anime figure than Sera?
What about Sara that was given away free here in the forums for so long? Is that figure "real anime"?
Who decides what is "real anime" and what is not?
Anime girls in Daz Studio? Perish the thought...
I'm working on an Anime Character Builder pack with some heads, facial morphs, eyes and body presets, but it is not an "anime figure" package, rather a way to make many different anime looks for Genesis 2 both sexes. It won't be out soon. It's going to take a while to finish all the extra helper morphs it needs for the eyes. It has a continuum but will more heavily emphasize less toon looks, like those in FF: Advent Children and the latter Final Fantasy games rather than the extra-toon look of Aiko 3 and 4 (maybe one or two heads like that but not the majority).
I've thought for a long time that Aiko 3 comes close to Kosuke Fujishima's style of art, and BelBel and ChibiBel come even closer. I see Ken Akamatsu's style in Aiko 4, but other people see other manga and anime artists' styles in her. Aiko 5 and Hitomi... are more game characters than anime characters, IMHO, but the style conventions in games are appearing more often in anime nowadays. So they're all anime characters - from different anime styles.
(Don't ask me about whose styles NearMe, Kururu, Deco, and Sera take after - I'm not sure yet.)
If you actually believe that rubbish with all of the extreme morphs that have already been done with the Genesis line, you know absolutely nothing about the line at all. No anime figure is hardly taxing or extreme to a model that has been morphed into all sorts of creatures already.
Sounds very interesting - I will look forward to it.
That's the semi-purist's definition. A true purist knows that both Ghibli and Disney are properly considered アニメ. :)

Besides the "made in Japan" label. What's the criterion that sets anime apart from other types of characters? Small nose, big eyes, no chin?

Not even that. Here's a link to a screenshot from "Zipang," an anime about a modern naval vessel sent back in time to WWII: http://www.anime-planet.com/images/anime/screenshots/zipang2.jpg
Note the normal-sized eyes and noses, and a few square jaws amongst the well-defined chins.
Honestly, country of origin is the only thing they have in common.
I've would like to see more anime/manga hair styles available that are longer, bigger, and more styling morphs.
A classic anime character figure would look something like Kururu (shown below). The closest to this example would most likely
be Toon Amy.
I had not noticed that - Kururu looks like a Noizi Ito character. Thanks!
(And I already know where to find Kururu, and resources for her - she's one of the figures I maintain a freebies list for over in the Freepozitory.)
Thanks for replying SickleYield! I'm happy to see that there is someone talented on the job, even if it's a long way off.
And, for all the pocket-philosophers in here debating what "real anime" is; I made the post in haste, don't read into it too much lol. We all know what I meant, especially with the references to futepen.
@drakenhawke, Kururu is a great example of what I'm talking about! I'd love to see something like Kururu for Genesis.
Kururu is an older figure, but the price is right - she's free. And so are most of her resources (morphs, wardrobe, hair, etc.). Here's my list of download links, should you want to give her a spot in your runtime: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/637/

Which of the two is the real anime figure?
I'm going to pile on with: "Real Anime?" That's like asking "will the real Elmer Fudd please stand up.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elmer_Fudd
The request could have been worded better and seems to have started a fire. Agreed that the OP did provide an example of what they want but even my naïve and cursory understanding of Anime tells me that Anime can't be pinned down to a particular style. Much less awarded the distinction of "real".
When you've watched image styles change for more than six decades you learn not to assign too much importance to any one style. Besides, it's the artists who break away from a particular style that get noticed (for good or bad).
Real anime depend on decades. 70's, 80's, 90' and XXI century are differents, then depend on styles, then depend on character types.
The SickleYield's aproach is very smart. Character builder make a lot more sense than a unique figure.
There are few anime expressions and another lack is in clothes. A3/H3 is very conservative if you compare with some extreme or cool anime clothes, or very fancy military attire.

These are the best original anime figures for poser I've ever seen.
Well, some says that A3/H3 or Hitomi are anime figures, but if you talk to 100 real anime-holics, all of them would say none of mentioned above figures even close to the canonic anime shapes. I recall there were several free hand-crafted anime morphs on japanese sites/blogs for A3/V3 long time ago. But truly it was taken far from original shape. I beleive, to make true set of anime morphs for G1/G2, an experienced mangaka or serious anime artist (like, say, Range Murata or Hayao Miyazaki) must be engaged to draw the set of shapes (of certain species) to be sculpted. Without it all these attempts to simulate japan anime style will be the fuss and profanation of the dilettante level.
So two decades in rec.arts.anime.misc and a half-decade of maintenance of the Anime Primer doesn't qualify me as a "real anime-holic"? Because I've already mentioned A3/H3 look like Kosuke Fujishima's work, and he's responsible for the character designs in You're Under Arrest, Ah My Goddess, and Sakura Wars, just to name three anime.
My point is that there is no "canonical anime shape" - there are only examples inspired by particular artists' work.

So what? Being a prist makes none a God summoner. Take Deco, Decoco and Maybe from http://members3.jcom.home.ne.jp/mowais/freestuff/freestuff.html (some more images here http://members3.jcom.home.ne.jp/mowais/past/index1.html) and A3/H3/Hitomi and compare with mentioned above anime series arts. Akatora's figures arouse no doubts while DAZ products makes lot of people feel it inappropriate. It's just the way DAZ imagine anime figures, not the rest who ask for more adequate forms. For A3/H3 there was brilliant set of Capces Digital Ink morphs for DAZ3D A3/H3 and 3D Universe A/H Toons that made sense to use it for anime style renders. For G1/G2 there still no such products.
My meaning of "canonical anime shape" is based on existence of several manga/anime drawing "schools" ascending to several manga artists of the past. Even taking into account the greater independence of contemporary anime artists from established canons and the ways they interprete their drawing styles, native japan anime/manga arts greatly differ from any western attempts to look anime-ish.
Well, as we say here, "pardon my French". If some parts hard to be understood, blame translate.google, I was never strong in languages.
I think I see where the confusion lies.
Some of us are answering the question "Is there any artist working on a real anime figure?"
Some of us are answering the question "Is there any artist working on a real anime figure for Genesis?"
These aren't the same question...
At the risk of not answering the question properly or repeating something already said, Chris Schell has produced an anime female figure. Not sure on the rules about links, but look for his name along with Kirsten and I am sure you'll find it.
Ooooooh! I'll be looking forward to this when it gets completed. I can see why that would be such a big project - I admire you for taking it on.
Now that we've had a few days to calm down and cool off... I'm curious as to what anime-style characters are already available.
I'll use the most broad definition: if the creator or vendor says it's an anime figure, then it's an anime figure. Here's the list of the ones I know of - who have I missed?

Nyacky look awesome, but... she has fixed her clothes :-/
Look at size of her eyes and mouth (hitomi need and extreme expresion to achieve this mouth). Her nose is up and she had truly long eyebrows
As an illustrator I get asked a lot to draw something in "anime or manga style" which usually results in me having to give the client a brief lesson on all the different styles trying to figure out what it is they want. There's kind of a generic expectation when people talk about anime/manga style but the stylistic differences from artist to artist vary as much as they do in any other style of art.
That said I have made a few different anime styled morphs for Genesis.
This is a head only morph which I think is my personal favourite of the bunch as it's the most versatile.

If this wasn't a thread about anime 3d figures, I'd say that wasn't one...that it was hand drawn. It's got something that most rendered 'anime' does not...not quite sure what it is, but it does.
