Mudbox vs Zbrush

Do these 2 programs essentially do the same thing? If they are totally different wht advantages does one have over the other? Mudbox is half the price of Zbrush and it says this is the last year you can buy it outright, after that its a monthly subcription.

Thanks for the different programs but I am more interested in the similarities or differences in the 2 I mentioned :)
Mudbox began as a Linux solution for use by Weta and Dreamworks, since ZBrush did not have a Linux port. It is a very good program and does sculpt and paint. In it's favor, it is very easy to go back and forth between Photoshop and Mudbox as MB is set up with layers. For me, I think of it more for texturing and ZBrush more for sculpting. I think ZBrush is far more robust in that area than Mudbox. Each has nice differences and similarities and since both have a demo, they are both worth checking out. Because they are timed demos, I would suggest going through training materials first and then start the demos.
thanks Cris :)
