Yes, but I was just saying that you don't need to update hardware to Windows 11 specs today to run DS 4.23. I have an older computer and I updated it (free) from Windows 7 to Windows 10 a long time ago, and I run 4.23 fine. Yes, eventually upgrades to 11 will be necessary, but not immediately in order to use DS 4.23.

Of course, but - leaving aside budget strain - upgrading to just Win10 specs right now puts one in a similar position as with Win7 again within the year.

the converter "only" requires Daz Studio Default content (the free package coming with DS) to be installed, since it is where it picks the convenient shader for the convenient surfaces. I added a few optional LUT shaders and one optional "glass/water" shader. The conversion will (uncheckable option) load the filatoon draw option node required in the scene as well as a distant light to start with. If you want specific lights, you can set up your own spots/point lights as in Iray, or even use dedicated commercial light products, but the distant light included is enough to start with. If you want custom shaders, you can also use your own customized shaders or existing dedicated commercial shaders, but the "Daz Default Content" Filatoon shaders used by default by the converter are enough to start with.

Please note that Genesis 9 Starter essentials is also required for the checkable option to load the filatoon draw node to be loaded properly (otherwise you can load it via the main menu).

Oh and it also requires a version of Daz Studio compatible with Filatoon (4.22 min I think).

For now the only things which are really tempting for me in the store are hair or background images, because not all hair "geometry" is compatible with a good toon look, and background HDR (not working as HDR but used as backgrounds) are not "toony", but rather super realistic.

Ahh looks like I'll have to wait as I am still on 4.21.0.5 out of necessity as my system is on Win7 Pro 64 and that is the last version with an Nvida driver that supports the older OS.

I would need to update to 4.23.x, as that is the only version available, but that would also require harware upgrade to meet Win11 requirements, so it ill be a while.

No ~~ Those Light Grey icons are on the Software products rather than Content products....Just leave them alone. Only focus on Content products... browse or filter by name to check those products with grey thumbnails in your screenshot.

 

In the Content Library pane>Daz Studio Formats do you see the tags at top-right for products installed through DIM? Like the Actor tag on this

1stly check in DIM, if the metadata of the installed producs have been successfully imported into cms database. If they have, the color of Database icons should be in dark grey, see screenshot 1. If they are in light grey, it means metadata have failed to be imported.

Then if you ever logged on Daz Connect and checked the option of "Update Metadata", you would get those grey thumbnails in your screenshot, though you've already installed the products in DIM. Check screenshot 2.

I had A very wonderful day on Sunday . O was taken out by several friends from my D&D group to the annual screening of The Big Lebowski at an independent cinema (which had a special on the "signature" white Russian" drinks).  Afterwards we headed out for more drinks and dinner, everything paid for. 

Yeah another 584,520,000 miles added to the lifetime logbook for a total of 41,500,920,000 miles travelled so far (if stretched out in a straight line),  Not about to bother with calculating out the sun's movement in the galaxy, the galaxy's movement in the local cluster, and local cluster's movement in the universe right now as the brain still smarts a bit (and I don't have access to the El Capitan supercomputer at Los Alamos).

Taking it easy today after dealing with bureaucratic nonsense early this week

Tomorrow I'm  invited to a friend's house for a full holiday dimmer and "refreshments".  Attended last year and it was very mellow and enjoyable. The celebrating doesn't end wit that either as another friend invited me to dinner on Thursday (ham mashed potatoes and all the fixins").  Crikey, going to have to fast until New Years after this week. 

When you have good friends like this they become your family

Speaking of which, I haven't been back to visit family members in years as they are all back east and living in different cities.  Just can't handle the cost, crowds, and trouble.  Flying these days is literally for the birds and contortionists who don't mind being wedged into the modern day equivalent of medieval torture device known as an airline economy seat for several hours.. No way am I going to pay to submit my tall creaky arthritic frame to that kind of punishment

I used to enjoy air travel back when you were still treated like a valued customer (even in coach) instead of baggage.

I meant the files (rather than products, sorry) that you can see as isntalled for the products which Daz Studio says are not.

Yep lol. My first article about this very issue was in 2017, and it is still there.
I'm a vendor that likes butch and male aesthetics more than fem and female aesthetics for the most part, and I've been doing this full time since 2010 (and I'm a newcomer compared to some vendors here). I make a lot of unisex products. The reason I do that is because I want the masc version to exist and to do that, I have to sell it on the fem content. If I split them the male one just doesn't sell.The only time I can afford to a male-only product is when it's underwear, usually (and it's been a while since I risked doing that).

I got the Lars the Lion 1st but it looks like I should of got Lycan the Wolfman first as he's gone and Lars the Lion is still around. I not sure which I will get next from the current choices. I sort of prefer, in many cases, the add-on bundles instead that are having the generally utilizable products like uniforms for stewardesses, pilots, cops, firemen, and doctors.

This is the ouroboros.... he almost certainly painted men because the commission required it but they are less interesting than his women because his heart wasn't there.  They are a bit like Michelangelo's women who have bodies like linebackers and were possibly created using men as life models.  I am trying to think of a solution that would be practical that might suit you.  There isn’t a way to change the public's taste this way or Revlon would be making bank by selling equal amounts of cosmetics to men as they do to women.  One could try to force every artist to make an uninspired male product if they want to submit a female product but what to do when all the artists flee to freer pastures.  I suppose we could require that every customer must buy a product of the opposite gender if they buy a character or garment.  I'm not seeing a solution.

You should be able to access the read me for any product you have by clicking on the 'i' in a circle in DIM, which will open the read me in your browser.

or right-click on the product icon in a content pane that shows products, or if you open the product in Smart Content just plain click on its image at top-left, above the category tree (holding down cmd/ctrl will give options on what to open and in which application).

Welcome back - we miss your renders !!!

The holiday discount system this year really is quite bad. The holiday has been busy, and I fell asleep and took an unplanned nap last night. Since I didn't check out before the store turned over, my discount has been reset to zero despite buying something two out of the last three days.
Emptied the cart - the sale isn't worthwhile at all without the extra discount. Bad for the consumer and especially bad for Daz - I probably would have made a large "holiday wrap-up" purchase, assuming a decent catch-up sale in the next day or two, but now I won't have time to restore the discount, so it won't be worthwhile to buy.
